i'd like to know what resolution is best for running ControlCAL and HCFR so i dont run into situations where part of the program window is off the screen when using the programs.

What size is your laptop's screen (physically)? It's best to run the native resolution of the LCD.

With ControlCAL and Display Calibration software in general, I think it's best to have a Wide Screen format Laptop Display with at least 1440x900.

i dont have a laptop yet, which is why i'm asking so i know the minimum specs to look for. what i may do is connect an extra monitor to my htpc and do calibration that way instead with a really long cable.

Yes. Unfortunately I have a netbook. 10 inch screen.

It will work out somehow, I guess.

My Asus 1000HE was just delivered yesterday so I will be testing that soon. :D

1024 x 600 should be fine and I understand you can set a higher resolution that allows you to move the screen around the native 1024 x 600 too.

I know others use netbooks with ControlCAL. They're so cute ;)

Yes indeed. 1000HE is what I've got too. Blue. Very pretty. Incredible fingerprint magnet. But the battery life is awesome.

If you find any settings that optimize it I'd love to hear about them.

I went over 7 hours today (and I mean working it) on battery (performance set to Auto) before I suspended and went back to my primary laptop

incredible..

I've been using the 1024 x 768 mode where you can move the screen up / down. This is the first day I've messed with it (actually I just set it up this morning after charging yesterday).

I think I will slap in 2GB and maybe change out the drive to a 320GB 7200RPM Western Digital.

...and you are right, a lot of finger prints.. :D
