... than DNICE settings on a 151FD

Last night I activated ISF day/night using DNICE settings, and I find it to be way to dark. I MUST be doing something wrong (as I stated over on AVS).

I was watching in the evening in a dark environment and was not happy at all. Out of the box "Performance" mode was brigher and gave a better picture to me.

Im going to double check my ISF day settings again when I get home, but it honestly looks almost identical to out of the box "Pure" mode - which is not my cup of tea at all

Anyone else in the same boat as me? ANyone else looking for a "brighter" looking picture?

Edit: Im only using ControlCAL and going by what Looks good to eye. Im not measuring anythign with CalMAN or any other tools. I just do not like how dark and plain the immage looks

Some do like it brighter than recommended for the environment and this is where the ISFccc Interface has it's advantages since you can achieve >40fL without clipping whites and causing some other issues.

Mark Rubin, Super Moderator here on AVS, likes his brighter too so he had Kevin Miller bump up the light output on both isf Night and isf Day. Report HERE (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=15449932&postcount=2019).

I would double check your P2 Settings and P1 (using REFRESH in ControlCAL). It sounds like something isn't set right.

For a test, copy the isf Day settings to isf Auto and pump up the Contrast to something closer to 40 (don't go over 40). This will make things out of whack since he calibrated his using the Contrast setting he posted.

I think D-Nice's isf Day settings are approx 46fL and 49fL (111, 151).

Also, this is where a proper calibration (DIY or hire a Professional) would help, calibrating for your individual set, environment and wishes.

Some, in the beginning, don't like the calibrated look but do so eventually. Of course, there will always be a few that just like it to to light up their town.

I will double check 1st thing when I get home. I know there has to be something I missed, did not save correctly, or copied down the wrong numbers... something.

This overall increase in brightness can only be obtained by professional calibration? I do plan on having this done, but, again im being deployed in the comming month... and will just wait till I get back.

I do like a bright picture.. but not blinding bright. I think performace mode out of the box has contrast at 50? or is it 40? Either way its up there and it pleases my eye. My LCD was a little TOO bright - I ended up lowering most of of that down. But, my 151 how it is now is just too dark :D - again this might be just becuase I have something set wrong.

I would really be interested in some Performance mode type ISF settings.

No, that is why I suggested bumping up Contrast for a test. But, you can't just change a setting without it disrupting things..

Properly calibrating will have your grayscale and gamma correct for the higher light output since you would be taking this in account (the desire for more light output) during calibration.
