While I was here impatiently awaiting the delivery of my Pioneer 5020, I got to thinking that it would be nice if there was software out there that could automatically power off my new plasma in the event of a power outage (I intend to have it plugged into an APC SmartUPS 1500).

Expanding upon that idea, I thought it would be nice if there would be a way to programmatically send commands/adjust settings in general. Whether that sort of functionality could be implemented by creating an API, or merely via command-line switches sent to ControlCal could be debated. Turbe advised that I put the idea up for discussion, so please feel free to contribute!

No response yet? Let me know if I haven't clearly articulated my wish list!

There is actually mini scripting/macro functions built into ControlCAL now (you can see the option while in Edit) but it can't be used or accessed for Profiles by anyone but me.. :D

All the Pioneer Display Profiles use this.

In regards to your Power Off, why not just let the UPS shut down the outlets?

Why do I have the feeling that I was better off not knowing about this? :)

I would prefer the device to be put into standby, but without other options I'll do that.
