Hi!
im just starting out in the world of colour, a novice beginning to learn.
i have a pioneer 5090h, i quickly discovered the presets in the display were not that good
at accurately showing an image from my various sources.

i discovered movie mode was the best, because the shadow detail was much better,
but i was a little dissappointed in how the tv displayed white colours.
i often went with user mode and a colourtemp of "mid".
When comparing user mode with movie mode, i thought movie displayed yellowish whites and looked somewhat dull.
(The dullness maybe wasnt really dullness but a more accurate representation of colors i realized)

movie mode had a much warmer colourtemperature though.

i then wanted to see what this display really could do, i had read a little about calibration and i gave controlcal a try.
i tried the isf-settings of my display that mlaun posted,
and everyone of d-nice settings for PRO-111FD (day/night/pure)

they were much better than movie-mode, but i couldnt really tell the difference
between mlaun and d-nice´s settings by just watching random material.

still i thought the whites werent that white, it still had a yellowish tone.

im thinking about getting my own colourmeter and calibrate this set myself,
just to get perfect results for my set.

Question:
Is this the way it should look? do you people with colormetercalibrated sets
see the same thing as i do?

are there samplevariations between sets of the same model?
how much can it vary?

when I calibrated my 151, I found that D-nices settings were gving me 6000 not 6500. This was of course after 700 hours of viewing. After my caibration the blue was about +7 higher than before.

So it might well be that on your set D-nices settings are a bit red. They were on mine.

PS I have found the day settings far too hot for normal viewing. The night was about right. However, during callibration I upped the contrast to 25 giving me 31 FL at ire =100. I set the day settings at 100 closer to 40 ftls for use when the lights are on. I used my isf night settings for the auto-with pure cinema set to smooth.

I brought the day settigns down but that the day settgins are still a case in progress.

hmm...i guess there are no shortcuts to a perfect image without buying a meter :(
anyone else that can post their settings for 5090h so i can compare with
mlaun's settings?

Unfortunately, yes.

To calibrate your panel properly a meter and software is highly
recommended instead of just using another persons settings.

I used D-Nice's settings on my PRO-151 and they looked very good
but it wasn't until I purchased my I1pro and Calman software
that I was able to see the differences from his settings.
