Hey everyone.

I just got a Pioneer Pro-111FD and today I decided to play around with ControlCal to get a feeling for it. My laptop has a serial port so I don't have to deal with a USB to serial adapter. I bought a serial cable from radioshack that is labeled as a RS232 female to female. I verified that it is straight through.

So first I hooked up the cable and started ControlCal with the Pio 9G Kuro TV Special as I wanted to check the hours for some peace of mind (box wasn't strapped closed and was pretty beat up). This worked great, and I was able to see that my display was indeed new. Then I loaded up the 9G C3 region 1 profile. TV turned on like it should. Then when I hit "Start Calibration" I got an error stating "Pioneer C3 Calibration Mode was not enabled". I double checked all my com port settings. I don't think it can be the cable because the TV special profile works as it should.

So what is wrong?

Thanks

Hi, actually, it still can be the cable since some straight-through cables have other pins connected, even crossed.

There are a couple of other Users that experienced this (can Power ON/OFF but not enter the ISFccc Interface) including myself on one cable that did have pins 2 and 3 correct (but not others). Replacing the cable resolved the issue.

I really don't ship just cables, but I have to a couple others and I will extend the offer if you continue to have problems (double check all Port settings again on your computer, ControlCAL and the Display itself).

I will ship a Cable only for $15 (including USPS Priority Mail Shipping to US addresses) - the availability and price are subject to change.

For a complete tested solution, consider our USB Serial Adapter/Serial Cable Bundle.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have checked all of the pins and they are all straight through. If it was the cable, why would I be able to use the Kuro special profile?

I did post that above :)

Pin issue, line issue, short, shielding etc.. I'm not really sure and didn't think it would be a concern once Power ON/OFF worked until I experienced this issue with one cable.

I didn't take the time to take the cable apart but the Power ON/OFF functions are THE most basic commands.. other commands including the ISFccc Interface require a checksum (Power ON/OFF don't).

Now, there could be something else going on with your setup.. if you have another Computer, give it a try.

Well I tried it again and this time it worked perfectly. Don't know why it didn't want to communicate the first time. Thanks for your help.
