Hello all - I've completed my isf day/night calibration with ControlCal. I watch a LOT of basketball with isf Day and Night. These modes look great when a player is being interviewed or at the foul line but when the action is moving up and down the court, the image/color looks a little pale/dull. I like the way 'Standard' looks when watching the game (a wee bit punchy). Now to my question - "Will I see a big improvement by having the set professionally calibrated?
Growing up with LCD's, you kinda get used to the 'Pop'. However I do know that my current settings now are as close to accurate and natural as possible. I definitely can get used to it in time. My wife/kids thinks isf Day/Night are their two less favorites. No need to preach about accuracy, I'm with you on that. I've been trying to sell isf modes to my family but to no avail. What do they know....:)

How many fL are you getting from your Display with isf Day (or who's settings did you try)?
The Pioneer models with ISFccc can go pretty high (after calibration) unlike most Plasmas (if not all consumer models).

I used all of D-Nices settings for isf Day/Night. I think it's measuring somewhere around 43 fl. (I think) Anyway - I used his numbers to the T. I'm even considering having a professional tweak it even more but I'm trying to learn more about ControlCal to see if I can make my own adjustments. I figured since I donated to get the software I might as well use it.

It's the Contrast Control that will decrease/increase fL. Can you post the link to the specific settings so I can check?
Remember, if you adjust the Contrast Control, you really need to re-do the calibration (either hire a Pro and go the DIY Route :D ).

One thing I didn't mention is, I've only noticed this when watching sports through my Cox HD Cable Set Top. I'm still waiting for the release of the Oppo BDP-83 to be released:)
Thanks in advance for any tips you can provide. Hire a pro is an option but I feel I'm getting pretty close to what I like. I want to max out ControlCal before thinking of hiring someone.

Do you mean the settings in Post #4 (with Contrast at 36)?
fL is at 49-50 already, that's pretty high :D

You're right - I thought it measured lower. I'm going to try a different source and see how I like it and also something other than sports. I'm sure it's fine with other content. Standard is a little to bright but man the colors of the players jerseys and floor are fun to watch. I'll give the isf modes some time. Also - professional tweaking is possible. I didn't watch this panel at all before or during break-in so I have no before and after images to compare. Who knows - I may just leave 'Well Enough' alone.:)
