I'm having an issue with ControlCAL.

I loaded Pioneer 9G Elite profiles and pressed the power on button. Display powered on, but ControlCAL froze - all buttons including the menu did not work. I killed ControlCAL in the Task Manager, started it again and pressed the power off button. Display powered off, but ControlCAL froze again. Nothing was displayed in the terminal window.

I am using a male/female straight-thru RS-232 cable and a F/F gender changer. Am I missing something?

Thanks.

This sounds exactly like a serial port, adapter (hardware and/or driver) and/or cable issue.

Are you using a built-in serial port or USB Serial Adapter?

You need to verify the Port Assignment in Control Panel.

What COM Port did you configure ControlCAL for (MENU / SETTINGS / PORT SETTINGS)?

I am using a built-in serial port. ControlCAL was configured for COM1.

Looks like the port is sending something to the display because the display can be powered on.

I'll try another cable tomorrow.

Have you verified that the built-in Serial Port is assigned to COM1 in your Control Panel (I'm not talking about ControlCAL)?

Since serial cables are rarely labeled, you can use a multimeter to verify Pins 2 and 3 go to Pins 2 and 3 on the other end.

My old laptop was the culprit. I installed ControlCAL on a newer PC and it worked like a charm.
