Make sure you use Notepad to open the text file with your Activation Information.
Are you are getting an Invalid Activation Code Message when entering your Activation Information (Name, Email Address and Key)? Make sure you are using Copy / CTRL-C and Pasting into the proper Fields with CTRL-V. DO NOT USE THE TAB KEY TO MOVE BETWEEN FIELDS (the TAB Code can be embedded in any Field's Data).
One common issue is that a space is added to the end of the selection when using a Mouse before you Copy / CTRL-C (this happens a lot with the email address and Key).... try selecting a line by using your Mouse and you may see what happens. You can hold down the Shift Key and use the Left Arrow Key to remove the Space from the selection (before using Copy / CTRL-C) or you can use your Mouse to place the cursor at the beginning of the line you want to Copy and hold down the Shift Key and use the Right Arrow Key to make the selection (then use CTRL-C).
TIP: Copy your entire email to Notepad and then Copy and Paste (CTRL-V) each field (Name, Email Address and Activation Key) from there.
The Name and Email Address is case sensitive. The Activation Key can be 32-52 Characters total. The Name and Email Address will not have a Space at the beginning or end.
EDIT: It looks like some Email Clients and Applications are removing a few of the 'Special Characters' in the Activation Key. If needed, I will attach a TEXT (.txt) file containing the required information with your Activation Email.
Running Windows with Language Support other than Western?
EDIT 5/4/2009 - THE OPTIONS BELOW ARE NO LONGER NEEDED. IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING CONTROLCAL ACTIVATED, CONTACT US (http://www.controlcal.com/forum/sendmessage.php) AND ASK FOR THE CONTROLCAL ACTIVATOR APPLICATION.
Due to the encryption used with ControlCAL's Activation Key, Users running Windows with Language Support other than Western (i.e. Chinese, Korean, Japanese etc.) may need to change your Windows Locale (Option 1) or Install and Run Microsoft's AppLocale Utility (Option 2) to enter their Activation Key. Once ControlCAL is Activated, you should be able to run ControlCAL with using AppLocale.
Option 1:
Change your Windows Locale to English (United States):
For Windows XP (http://www.java.com/en/download/help/locale.xml#xp)
For Windows Vista (http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/63fe39ac-f098-4322-ba60-8210af13464d1033.mspx)
Option 2:
Download Microsoft AppLocale (http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/apploc.mspx)
