I have a Pioneer Kuro Pro 111-FD Plasma Display. I am going overseas to work for 1 year. I am planning on storing my display panel back in it's original box. The owner’s manual on page 131 states this: "Note: If you don't intend to use your flat panel TV for an extended period, occasionally power on and run the panel to maintain functionality". Since no one will be able to turn on the plasma display will this affect its performance? i.e. will the plasma display panel be prone to malfunction?

I don't think that will be a problem but I personally would store it in a heated unit - at least consistent temperature (no extreme swings and no high humidity).

My KRP-500M has been unplugged at times for months - I think I will plug it in and turn it on now LOL :)

I just had my Pioneer 101 replaced under factory warranty with a Brand "NEW" 101 , build date is NOV 2008 , I guess it was sitting in the warehouse for 4 years , Works like a champ , no issues at all, hope this puts your mind at ease.
