I have had the opportunity to play around with a friend's new 141 yesterday and have noticed something odd. This was only a pre calibration as he does not have the hours on it to do a final fine calibration.
What I experienced was the following:
I was in pure mode and was using the AVS HD patterns disk. He has a PS3 thru a Pioneer VSX-01THX to the display via HDMI. When running grey scale adjustments if I made any changes in display settings and navigated the disk back to the main menu the settings reverted back to the previous one. I was not using the A/B comparison function.
I actually picked up on it before I started the grey scale adjustment. I wanted to see the out of the box differences in each gamma mode when in Pure mode. If I selected a gamma mode and started taking readings when I reached about 30-40 IRE I would see a change. Going back into the settings menu the Gamma setting had changed. After selecting it a second time it seemed to stick.
This also seemed to be the only way I could get any of the settings to stick. After making any adjustments and taking measurements. I would have to re-enter the changed settings when I returned to the menu screen of the DVD.
Is there some note I am missing in the manual?
Other than that slight glitch the display is awesome. Hopefully by the time he gets 200hrs on it I can use controlcal to run some more refined adjustments nudg.... nudg.... Turbe ;)
Thanks for the answer.
