Post Mitsubishi HC3000 Series Projectors Display Profile Discussion.

Per Requests, this Thread will be for discussion of the Display Profile(s) for the Mitsubishi HC3000 Series Projectors (and HC1500).

There is some of room to add additional Controls in this Profile (including use of the Buttons). Post here if you want/need something specific added (i.e. Gamma Mode (All) BrilliantColor (HC1500/HC3000) etc) or changed (or wait until I enable EDIT PROFILE Mode in ControlCAL which will allow you to do your own Profile modifications).

I installed the program for use with my HC3000. It works for brightness and contrast as well as the brightness and contrast for the individual colors. However, I am not getting communication back from: Color, Tint, or the Gamma Controls. When I try to refresh all of these end up red. Is there a setting that I am missing? Is this a problem specific to my projector, or have other people experienced the same thing with their HC3000's?

Can you tell me what the Terminal Window is displaying when you change the Control for COLOR.

It should be:
00T+**[CR]
[HEX: 30 30 54 2B ** ** 0D]
** depends on the value

Please verify that the confirmation in Green is the same.

Also, please give me the same for TINT.

Did you try the Gamma Controls too?

UPDATE:
OK, I uploaded a new Profile for the HC3000 and this Thread will be dedicated to the HC3000 (and maybe the HC1500).

Please try: Mitsubishi HC3000 Projectors - B17.zip (in Post #1 above).

I've added additional Controls for the HC3000 and had to make some minor changes to the Gamma Controls. The COLOR and TINT Controls are unchanged from the Generic HC Series Profile and should work.

Make sure you also download the RS232 Code Documentation for the HC3000 too (also in Post #1) since you should use it for the Control Value Translations (until I or someone else types and posts them).

There are still 6 unused Buttons so if you want any changes to the layout or want to add Controls to these unused Buttons, let me know (eventually, you will be able to do it yourself when the EDIT option is enabled in ControlCAL).

When I send color changes I get
<--00T**[CR]
[HEX: 30 30 54 2B ** ** 0D]

When I send tint I get

<--00S**[CR]
[HEX: 30 30 53 2D ** ** 0D]

However neither of these are in green, the are both in black. On the control panel these stay red. Everything in the second column is red. Everything in the first column seems to work.

The gamma controls seem to work now at least some of the time. They did not work at all before I opened the HC3000 profile. Now they work some of the time, but not others.

I will look into the documentation.

You can type this in the Terminal Window and see if the Projector sends a confirmation back:

00T+01 [Press Enter] - EDIT: I forgot the + in Post #5 above

Send that in ASCII Mode (Zero Zero Tee Zero Plus One and ENTER).

If nothing is sent back, while still selecting the Terminal Window, Press F12 (to send a CR only) and see if you get anything back.

So, everything but Tint and Color on the Main Window is working as expected with your Projector?


Concerning Gamma, use the small REFRESH Buttons two times (Press once, wait a second and Press again) for Gamma Only Refresh and see if that helps. Please post results.

ANOTHER THOUGHT: What Input are you using and what do you have connected to it (perhaps Color & Tint don't apply).

I figured part of it out. When I am connected to the HDMI input there color and tint controls are disabled. When I switched to the component input color was not disabled, tint still was. I am not planning on using either of these controls anyway. Everything else is still in red.

This may mean that the other controls are disabled for the input I am using.

The gamma thing kind of works, but it works better by inputing a value than by using the slider. If I input a value change and then push send a couple of times it works.

I just did a test on with my HC4900, I see that Aspect (and others) are sending a different number format back with confirmation (no +), does Lamp Mode, Color Temp, Gamma Mode and Aspect turn RED on yours?

Easy for me to change.

I changed the number format for those Controls on the Right Side (Main Window) from Lamp Mode Down.

Please download: Mitsubishi HC3000 Projectors 2 - B17.zip (Post #1)

EDIT: NVM, I remember I made Num Format #1 (used for the Controls above) not valid for REFRESH, since this num format supports -1, 0, 1 type (1 or 2 places because of the negative support). I will change in the next ControlCAL Build (I need to either allow Num Format #1 for REFRESH or create another for just 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)

ControlCAL Build 18 is now Available.

I also uploaded the correct HC3000 Display Profile (requires ControlCAL v1.41 Beta 2 Build 18+).

Please see POST #1 above for more information.

I have updated POST #2 above with translations (Control's Value to Text Description) for some of the HC3000 Controls.

With build 18 everything is working, except cinema mode which is not available through the menu using my remote on either of my inputs anyway(HDMI, Component).

Maybe the control for the iris would be a better use of this contol.

I can do that... I still have 6 Buttons left that I could use/add but I don't think anything else is needed (that is available).

GorGorBey has a HC3000 and I think he is going to calibrate it this weekend (he's been calibrating his Pioneer Plasma). Hopefully he will comment here and post his calibration results/files in the HC3000 Display Thread.

A couple of buttons that could be helpful are:

1. Vertical Location (in case someone is installing while they calibrate)
2. AV Memory (AV Memory 1, 2, 3: This could be helpful if you are calibrating one source with different media such as SD DVD and Blu-Ray) (I did not see this in the documentation so it may not be possible)
3. Change Input (This would be helpful when calibrating several sources)
4. Iris control

I can always do a Profile Part #2 (for more Control Space if needed) like I did with the Pioneer ISFccc Profiles.
