If we delete our existing installation, prior to installing 1.45, won't we need to reinstall the activation key?

Nope, the old .msi Installer will keep it intact as well as the new .msi Installer for v1.45.

Of course, if you used the manual method to install ControlCAL, manually removing the old installation will also keep your Key intact (no need to re-activate).

If you customized/edited your ControlCAL.ini file, you should copy it to another directory/folder (back it up) and then copy it back into the ControlCAL directory after you install/upgrade to v1.45.

Turbe...does the .ini file contain the Activation Key information? Would copying this to the new installation folder allow it to pick up your current Activation Key?

You can install in whatever folder/directory you want and ControlCAL will pickup the Activation info on the same computer. The default folder/directory for installation is C:\Program Files\ControlCAL

Have the (2) profiles been upgraded as well, or do we still use the profiles from 1.41?

I've gotta ask a dumb question:

I know where ControlCal is located on my Vista laptop (C:|Program Files|ControlCAL) but I don't see a way to uninstall it. It's not located on my Add/Remove Programs list, either.

Sam, where did you previously install ControlCAL, C:\ControlCAL ?

You can just delete the old directory if you manually installed ControlCAL.

For the new version, which is installed into C:\Program Files\ControlCAL by default, go to your ControlCAL Panel and use Add/Remove Programs.

Turbe,

Mine is installed in C:\Program Files\ControlCAL, so just delete the entire folder?

I don't think I have customized my INI file, I guess I would know if I did?

Do you mean an older version of ControlCAL is in C:\Program Files\ControlCAL ?

First, go to your ControlCAL Panel and use Add/Remove Programs to see if ControlCAL is listed under Installed Programs.

If it is, use the Uninstall option.

If it isn't, just delete the entire directory and then run the new v1.45 Installer.

Future versions of ControlCAL will auto upgrade with the Installer.

Default v1.45 will not start

I keep getting an error message after installing v1.45:

Display Control and Calibration Made Easy! has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Followed by:
Failed to load the data. File seems corrupted.

So I deleted the installation and the previously downloaded .msi file. Downloaded another copy of the .msi file and tried again. Exact same result three times.

Any ideas?

WindowsXP Media Edition Service Pack 3. As far as I know everything is up to date.

Many thanks,
Michael

See if there are updated drivers for your Video Card, Sound Card and update DirectX if needed. How much memory does the Video Card have?

I supposed it's possible a component in the Media Edition is conflicting.

Sorry in advance if I am asking on the wrong thread. I have recently purchased the Calman software, the I1Pro and the DPG1200 signal generator as well as Controlcal. I have taken two calibration courses and am familiar with Calman and the IPro. My question is, and this may be a really stupid question, but when calibrating the ISF modes with controlcal how do I run controlcal and calman at the same time or can I unlock the ISF modes with controlcal and then use the 101 remote to calibrate?

I assuming you are asking about using both for the calibration process...

Setup your windows to show the appropriate windows onscreen (for CalMAN and ControlCAL), depending on screen size, you may have to use alt-tab as well. ControlCAL will remember it's window positions upon exit (MENU | EXIT).

What is the resolution of your display?

NOTE: I'll move this to another Thread.
